Keeping it Light & Fit!

Hello Ladies!
For many people we meet these days eating healthy is a habit, these are people from our office, we go for meetings or just friends. We see a lot of people who are introducing eating healthy in their daily lives.
I had lost few kgs in a span of two months. I followed simple tricks that help me in my daily routine to keep me hydrated and keeping my hunger pangs in control.
I’ll share what I do on daily basis:
I start my day at 6 in the morning and hit the kitchen. With all my cooking going on I stretch a bit and drink one big glass of warm water with lemon & ginger (you may add honey, personally I’m not a fan of honey)
By 8:45 I reach office, and there I have my breakfast. I usually eat 2 eggs omelet cooked with onion, tomatoes and mushrooms and ghee or olive oil and have a cup of milk coffee.
Then by 10:30 or 11:00 I drink one cup of green tea. Green tea helped me with my bloating issues I used to face. It releases all the gas in my body which, trust me is such a relief.
Then by 1: 30 I eat my home cooked lunch. It usually has one vegetable 2 chapatis and very little portion of rice.
At 3:00, I drink one green tea again followed by my bowl full of fruits. I eat all the seasonal fruits. At this time of the year I get apples, bananas, plums, grapes, strawberries, blueberries and kiwi. Some good days I bring avocados.
In between if I like, I eat one piece of mathri or biscuit. But I like to keep it to only one piece, followed by one cup milk coffee.
Then by 7:30 we do our dinner. We are early eaters and sleepers. It just helps us to wake up fresh the next morning.
I have been following this routine since past month and I must say I feel lighter, not in terms of weight, but the overall healthy feeling.
Since mine is a desk job, I keep visiting the washroom often to stretch my arms and back. It just helps in the blood circulation of the body which keeps me fresh throughout.

After all, not everything is about the weight, sometimes it’s about feeling happy and fit.

DIY Aluminium Foil Frame

Hello everyone!
I can’t emphasis enough how much we all ladies love to decorate our homes and what better than making something yourself and grabbing all the attention and appreciation.
So, I’m back with a tutorial this time. Today I will be showing you how you can use home aluminum foil and transform it into a master piece made by you.
Things you need:
·         Home Aluminum foil
·         Black chart sheet
·         A pair of scissors
·         Stick glue
·         A big frame (you may use reuse an old one available at your home)
So, let’s start:
First, take a long piece of the foil and cut it using the cutter available with the packing. Start folding it inside and outside, each fold should be at least an inch thick.
Using a pencil, start drawing leaf shapes on the foil close to each other. Utilize the full sheet as much as you can. The leaf shape doesn’t need to be exact same.
Then cut the leaves. Separate the leaves from each other. You have reached half way.
You need to cut the craft sheet to the size of the frame, to achieve best result, use the back-cardboard of the frame to draw lines on the sheet and cut it into the exact same size.
Now on the black chart sheet, using a pencil put some dots from where you wish to start your art work and where you want to finish. Using the same foil cut a small circle shape for the center of the flower.
Now we will start putting the leaves on the chart sheet using the glue stick. Do not worry if the foil gets crumbled. First paste the circle a little towards the end, and then paste the leaves around it. You can stop where ever you like. I personally liked half sheet filled and rest blank black.
Once you finish pasting the leaves let it dry for at least an hour. After it dries, put the craft sheet in the frame, and you have your hand made master piece done.

You can put in in any room of your choice on a plain wall. Hope you liked the idea and it inspired you to do something creative.
P.S. You can use any other colored sheet or gift wrapping paper instead of the aluminum foil.

Gurudwara Visit in EID Holidays!

Hello everyone,
Recently Dubai enjoyed a three days holidays on EID, some lucky ones like Kunal have 4 days off. Everyone was busy making plans for the occasion from a long time. This time apart from all other plans, we decided to go to the Gurudwara located in Jabel Ali. It was our first time there.
We’ve heard a lot about the Dubai Gurudwara but never got a chance to go there. This time I was firm on the plan, and we made it to the Gurudwara in time.
We went in our personal car and it took about 30 minutes to reach there from Silicon Oasis. The nearest metro station is Ibn Battuta Metro Station, from there you can take a taxi, walking is not feasible.
It’s a beautiful place, so peaceful. The ground floor is the Langar (meal or dining) Hall, in which everyone is welcomed and fed with the Langar meal of that hour (depending on the time), and on the first floor is the prayer hall, the building has lifts to commute between the floors, which is very convenient.

The prayer room is a huge carpeted hall and in the middle, there is The Guru Granth Sahib, beautifully decorated around with fresh flowers. The whole place is so mesmerizing. We entered the prayer hall, and could hear the prayers sung in Punjabi, we could understand a few lines but it was so peaceful to hear.

We sat there for around half an hour, heard the prayers, prayed and thanked the almighty for what he has bestowed on us. There was another room in which prasad was served, delicious….
Then we went to the Langar hall, sat there and we were served with hot delicious food. Serving to the devotees is one of the best service you can offer to God. We had a yummy meal at the Gurudwara.
An Anand Karaj (wedding Ceremony) had just finished when we reached there. How I wish I could witness a Sikh wedding. Sigh!!
I personally was so amazed and lost in the ambiance that I could not take many pictures there.

To sum up, it was an amazing experience, we needed that peace in our lives.
Eid Mubarak to all of you. Hope you enjoyed the holidays and reading our experience at the Gurudwara.

Love.
Kirti

Hello ladies!

I recently got my August month Glam Box on the 24th of this month (bang on time as always). I had subscribed for a six-month subscription and got amazing goodies till now.
I’m sharing with you the contents of the box and reviewing the Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream in this blog.

Alterna Caviar CC Cream for hair

Gli Elementi Matting Gel Cream

Nivea Powder Touch Spray
  Price: 200 ml- AED 15
Jergens Bright Revival Body Cream
  Price: 200 ml- AED 30
Himalaya Purifying Neem Face Wash
  Price: 150 ml- AED 24
And,
Glam Box’s Silicone Makeup Sponge.
So, let’s start with the review for Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream:
As the name suggest it’s a BB cream that covers your face evenly. The consistency of the BB cream is perfect to blend on to the skin. I was sent the shade NO. 27 (Honey Beige).
The product claims triple functional (UV blocking, whitening and wrinkle care) and provides excellent coverage and is against animal testing (big thumps up to that).

I have used the BB cream for two days now and am very happy with the results. I usually apply the BB cream after moisturizer. I usually use my fingers to blend in the BB cream, so as usual I put dots all over my face and started to blend them.
The cream blend perfectly without any extra efforts. It has a good coverage. It covered my acne scars I had on my right cheek. Spreading it with the fingers was easy.
It stayed all day long (my day starts at 7:30 and by 8:30 in the evening I wash my face and remove all my makeup). There was no dryness or excess oil on my T- zone.
Overall, the Missha M Bb Cream is a good BB cream, I’ve tried a few BB Creams and its one of the best. It does not feel caky on the skin, does not give you breakouts, stays fresh till the end of the day.
The second day I tried using the silicone sponge I got in the box to apply the BB cream, but unfortunately, I was unable to blend it into my sin, I feel applying with fingers give better results. So, the silicone sponge did not do anything good to my skin (will try again using the silicone sponge to apply foundation, it might work better).
I am happy with the results and recommend the BB cream to you as well.
The only thing I did not like about the cream is that is transfers easily, I did the mobile phone test and the cream transferred to the phone screen. It feels as if a significant amount of cream has transferred. although it does not make a difference in the appearance on the face but you can see traces of cream on the screen. Apart from that its a great choice.
I will be using the other products I got in the box soon and will update you with the reviews.
Stay tuned for more updates and reviews.

THE BIRTH STORY

It has been more than three years now and the story still gives me immense amount of happiness and goosebumps at the same time.
Yes, today I’m sharing my daughter’s birth story.
We had just shifted to UAE 4 months back, knowing very few people here and all sort of insecurities were in our minds as it was our first child and we had very little guidance in the new country.
I was supposed to get admitted in the hospital on the 5th July as my sugar levels were out of control (thanks for the choc-bar cravings in last few months) and my mother in law was coming on the same day, so we were relieved that someone is there with me at the most sensitive time of our lives.

So, she came after mid-night, we shared all the little cute things till 4o’clock in the morning. By the way, we did not know the gender of the baby till birth, we chose to keep it a surprise, so that’s why im calling her a baby 😊
We were tired and decided to sleep at 4 in the morning. I could not sleep because I started feeling uneasy and started to feel little pain. So instead of 8 in the morning we decided to go to the hospital at 6:30. By 7 we were there, the nurses were happy that they did not have to give me an inducing injection as it is not considered to be a good option and its always better to get pains normally.

I was asked to walk a lot in the corridors and drink as much apple juice I can. As the pains increased it was getting worse. I was given a sleeping injection to relax me and save my energy for the last part which is pushing the child out.
The pains kept getting worse and I was waking up in like every 15 minutes because the pains were so intense. The entire day went in pains, I was given a veg sandwich to eat for lunch and did not eat anything for dinner.

We were waiting for the doctors to take me to the delivery room but the baby had a different plan, she took her own enjoyable time to think about coming out. The whole night went like that. No one could sleep because there was a tension as I was in too much of pain.

The doctors kept visiting me, understanding the situation and telling me that I needed to wait. That day I saw 4 doctors as they keep coming and going and the last one was there on call. So, she delivered my baby.
After almost 26 hours of pains and tension my lovely daughter was in my arms.

Forgetting all the pains I could instantly feel the connection. She is mine. My mother in law was there with me when I was pushing, the moment she got to know it’s a girl, she ran to Kunal and they called my parents and other relatives.
OMG! it is one of the best feelings being a mother, especially when my daughter is Kavya!

A trip to Cherish! - Kenya - Masai Mara!

The first time my husband told me that he is planning to visit Africa for this vacation, my first reaction was WHY? Later it turned to where exactly? What will we see there?
All my questions were answered when he told me about Masai Mara, and just after seeing the pictures online I was convinced.
We had planned the entire trip by ourselves with the help of a few friends who’ve lived there or have visited there.
We took a flight to Nairobi, and planned to stay there for a day since we were travelling with a toddler. We needed that energy conserved for the rest of the trip.
Nairobi:
When I googled about Nairobi I was not very sure about the place and was not very keen on staying there. But we still did. Due to the flight delay from Addis Ababa, we could only reach to the hotel by late night at 2:00 am instead of 11 o’clock in the morning. Most of the travelers with us had planned it the same way. We made few friends at the airport as we stayed for almost 14 hours together waiting for our flight (bad experience with Ethiopian Airways).

Where we stayed:
We stayed at Tune, which is located inside the Nairobi city. I was not very impressed with the hotel, it had no intercom in the room, so if you need something you will have to go to the reception, apart from that everything was ok.
Masai Mara:
We took a six hours road trip from Nairobi to Masai Mara. The roads for like an hour are decent, after which it’s a very bumpy ride. Would not recommend it if you are travelling with a toddler or if you get motion sickness. I was fine but my husband and my daughter were not very comfortable throughout the ride.

We left around 9 from Nairobi and reached our destination- Kilima Camp only by 2:30. Kilima Camp is beautiful and is located on top of a hill.

The staff is amazing, food is awesome basically both of us loved the camp and the hospitality of the staff.

Next day we went for the game drive in search of the big five. Try and leave as early as possible in the morning.

We did the game drive for 2 days. Third day we were back to Nairobi in the same hotel- Tune.
Stayed there for a day, on the way back we did some road side shopping- which was amazing and got some good deals after bargaining.
Next day morning we went to see mount Kenya, the weather was awesome and the mountain was hidden behind the clouds. After breakfast we went for another game drive.
Finally we could spot the cheetah and white rhinos.
In Mount Kenya, we stayed at The Sweet Waters. We recommend the camp.

So overall it was an amazing experience, we chose the right time to go there, we saw the big five, migration but missed the hunt… which was okay because the excitement to see everything was too much.

What an amazing experience it was to see a wild cheetah right in front of our eyes, doing nothing but relaxing. I have no words to explain the excitement of my husband.

Below are few more pics from our album. Hope you have enjoyed the post.
